Designer, Developer, Maker of things…

I have a background in interaction design, and several years’ experience in news and editorial, working for organisations such as The Times, BBC, The Telegraph and Channel 4 News. Currently I offer creative front-end development and design consultancy for branding and digital studios, both in the UK and internationally.

My specialisms are styling/layout systems, patterns and component libraries, navigation, animation and responsive layout. Favourite tools include: Craft, Wordpress, SASS, Tailwind, jQuery, Vue JS, Git, Gulp, and Webpack. I’m intrigued by the intersection of design and engineering and I’m always working to bridge that gap between disciplines.

Sounds like a good fit? Drop me an email

BBC GEL Responsive guidelines

Identity, Digital, Strategy

For a year I worked in collaboration with Al Jones on BBC’s GEL (Global Experience Language) developing responsive principles and guidelines, including typography, local navigation, and interaction patterns for sites and products across the BBC's digital portfolio.

I led an initiative to improve touch optimisation on the web, introducing a touch-first policy for design of all of our online offerings, including BBC News, Sport, Weather, iPlayer, iWonder and more.
